Match Report - Dome Bar Rangers vs - 07/03/2010

Sunday 7 March 2010 - Watford Sunday Football League - Fourth Division
 Dome Bar Rangers1

 Gadeside Rangers1
  Putman
at South Way

Gadeside arrived at South Way with an injury depleted squad which saw a bare 11 start against an organised Dome Bar Rangers. Kieran Marks filled in between the sticks and was called upon as early as the first minute as a whipped cross was controlled well in the six yard box and powerered goalwards. Marks pulled off a superb double save to keep things level. Rangers looked nervous and were sloppy in possession. Dome Bar then took the lead when a miskicked goalkick from Marks was controlled by the Dome Bar striker who then turned inside Balraj Singh and smashed the ball home. Despite being under the cosh, Rangers were beginning to show promise on the counter with Meren Rojo showcasing his talent in the middle of the park. Gadeside nearly equalised when a Robinho-esque turn on the edge of the box from John Gooden unlocked the defence, only for his shot to slip just wide of the post. Shortly after good work down the right drew a corner and the pressure told as from the clearance Bangs fed Rojo who cut inside and released Kevin Putman who slipped through and put the ball beyond the keeper in the bottom corner. Gadeside Rangers found their feet from here on in and were controlling the game. The half-time whistle followed shortly afterwards and it was the hosts who were thankful for it.
The second half kicked off and it was Gadeside who were the more threatening with Mike Ashby coming into the game more and the Duracell bunny that is “The Hig” getting from box to box. John Gooden was doing a great job of holding the ball up and the support from midfield was great at times. Gadeside pushed and pushed in the second half but the goal just wouldn’t come. They were at times camped in the Dome Bar half. Then with time running out a whipped free kick from Rojo was met at the back post by Matt Day who did everything right by heading the ball into the ground but the ball somehow managed to lift up and over the bar from 3 yards out. The referee blew for full time from the resulting goal kick.
