Match Report - The Pavilion vs - 14/02/2010

Sunday 14 February 2010 - Watford Sunday Football League - Fourth Division
 The Pavilion0

 Gadeside Rangers2

at South Oxhey Playing Fields

Gadeside went into this game with an unbeaten league streak stretching back to the first game of the season. They were up against arguably the toughest opponents to date at Oxhey Playing fields. Gadeside began the game and were up against it from the off with Pavilion bombarding the defence with log balls and even longer throw ins. It was real backs to the walls stuff for the first half of this game and Rangers were lucky to be level after a long throw in from the Pavilion was met by the head of the big striker who saw his effort acrobatically turned onto the bar by the evergreen Darren Hufford. It took a while for Rangers to get going and they were under the cosh for most of the half before a breakaway saw Will Byrne bury an effort into the bottom right hand corner of the net on the stroke of half time.
The second half saw Rangers play with a little more confidence but it was still all Pavilion, but the back four were holding strong and not letting them in behind supported by Mark Cassidy, Meren Rojo and Kevin Putman who were doing a great job of keeping the midfield tracked. With around 15 minutes to go Gadeside were awarded a corner, the ball was swung in right on top of the keeper who misjudged his jump and flapped allowing Matt Day to leap in behind him and nod the ball into the unguarded net. This was the centre backs fourth of the season and a good return considering this was only his 10th outfield start of the year. Pavilion continued to push but were held at bay for the remaining 15 with Darren Hufford pulling off yet another world class save from a volley towards from the edge of the box.
