| Gadeside Rangers Reserves won a closely contested friendly against Colne Valley Royals with two second half goals courtesy of Stuart Cartner and Mike Ashby. Played in glorious August sunshine, Gadeside were put on the backfoot early on as Valley went close twice on early, the latter effort cannoning back off the crossbar. But as the half wore on Gadeside began to dominate though all too often their final pass let them down. |
| Michael Kayembe should have scored from close range after getting on the end of Chris Fitzpatrick's low cross and Bartosz Wiernik fired just wide of the upright. Gadeside broke the deadlock on the hour when Stuart Cartner was on hand to fire through a sea of bodies after the visiting keeper had saved at the feet of Toby Zhou. Valley threatened for an equaliser late on and had two efforts ruled out for offside before Mike Ashby pounced on a goalkeeping mistake to slot into an empty net to seal the win. |
