Gadeside Rangers crashed out of the Watford Intermediate Cup following a seriously lacklustre performance against second division Glendale in the quarter-final of the Watford Intermediate Cup.
On a big pitch with a sticky surface Gadeside put the hosts under early pressure with Tariq Khan and Chris Fitzpatrick linking up well. However, for their early dominance Gadeside rarely hurt Glendale and home goalkeeper Grabiner was rarely called into action. All too often Gadeside's delivery and decision making in the final third can only be described as poor and Glendale began to get into the game. The lively Zloof brought a superb save from Tom Oliver in the Gadeside goal as he pouced when set free. But the half fizzled out without much incident.
Playing down the hill in the second half Glendale were first to everything and never let Gadeside settle. Mitchell brought a routine save from Grabiner via a free-kick but with Gadeside pushing men forward the hosts hit Gadeside on the counter attack and a slick move saw Zloof chip the ball over the advacing Oliver and the ball just had the legs to find the net. Gadeside pushed men forward in search of an equaliser but again lacked any real creativity and Glendale defended comfortably. Gadeside did have a couple of good chances both from Adam Hills crosses. First Jay Evans beat Grabiner to the ball but saw his header hit the crossbar and then Tariq Khan saw his deft header drop just past the far post.
With Gadeside piling men forward in the closing stages, Glendale grabbed the clinching goal on 86 minutes when another powerful run by the impressive Zloof saw the ball delivered to Horwitz who scored from close range. A bitterly disappointing result for Gadeside but a result they cannot argue with.
