| Gadeside Rangers enjoyed a good win in a very competitive friendly against both of the Hammer FC teams. Playing the first team in the opening 45, Gadeside were put under a lot of early pressure as the visitors knocked the ball around well. However, they rarely failed to get in behind Gadeside and on the one occasion they did, their striker fired wide with Matt Evans doing enough to put him off. Gadeside took the lead on the half hour when Tom Mitchell sprung the offside trap to cooly finish past the keeper. Hammer were reduced to 10 men after a striker was red carded for violent conduct. |
| Gadeside then faced a youthful Hammer Reserves, who like their first team, were comfortable on the ball and a decent side. Tom Mitchell rounded off the best move of the game as he headed home Ian Freeman's right wing cross. Hammer pulled one back on the hour with a fantastic long range effort. The game became scrappy and stretched in the final period as Gadeside comfortably held on. A very decent workout. |
