| Gadeside Rangers' crashed out of the Presidents Cup at the first hurdle with a dismal extra time defeat to Colne Valley. Two quickfire goals from Tariq Khan and Toby Zhou looked to be sending the hosts through but Valley hit back before stunning Gadeside with three extra time goals. |
| The first half was a close affair with chances few and far between. Toby Zhou brought a good save from the Valley keeper while Valley's Dave Rooney fired wide. The visitors went ahead just before half-time when Danny Everritt's underhit backpass allowed Tom Seamons to nick the ball off Rob Metcalf was slide into an empty net. However, the game was turned on its head shortly after the restart when Gadeside scored two quick goals. |
| First Tariq Khan showed great technique when crashing home and unstoppable volley from the edge of the box to level things up and shortly after Toby Zhou slid home after Matt Evans' header was blocked on the line. As the game wore on, Valley began to put Gadeside under increasing pressure and were rewarded when Zelic powered home after a free-kick had come back off the crossbar. |
| Extra time was a sorry state for Gadeside as Valley ran riot. Rooney put them ahead when his cross-shot found the top corner and Bonnick made sure of the game when he scored from 30 yards following a poor clearance by Rob Metcalf. Gadeside were to lose Metcalf with a broken finger before the end and to rub salt into the wounds Valley grabbed a late fifth to compound a miserable day for Gadeside. |
