Gadeside Rangers twice came from behind to pick up a point against The Reindeer is a highly entertaining game at a sun-drenched Scotsbridge. Gadeside were without Jay and Matt Evans to add to their long list of absentees. The hosts put Gadeside under intense early pressure and it was no suprise when Paul Collet headed home a Dan Campbell cross to give The Reindeer the lead they deserved.
Gadeside did begin to get themselves into the game but failed to test Bushnell in the home goal. Tom Mitchell fired well over while Danny Everritt saw a fierce drive blocked. The Reindeer came close to doubling their lead when an audacious half-volley from all of 50 yards by Matt Davis nearly caught Darren Hufford out - but the Gadeside keeper recovered to push the ball over. Gadeside drew level on 29 minutes when Adam Hills fired in from close range after excellent work by Toby Zhou on the left.
Gadeside were dealt a sucker punch when The Reindeer regained the lead just before half time. Another right wing cross saw Campbell's first effort saved by Hufford but the burly striker pounced on the rebound to net from close range. Playing with the strong breeze in the second half, Gadeside began to put the hosts under some pressure - but again failed to create any clear cut chances. At the other end, The Reindeer broke quickly with Collet and Campbell again the main threats.
The equaliser did come on 75 minutes when Tariq Khan's deft cross was headed home by Hills who just nipped in ahead of the keeper. Hills should have had a hat-trick when played through but his tame effort was straight at Bushnell. Both sides swarmed forward to looking for a winner and the hosts should have won it when Davis got free but headed wide when well placed from a corner. All in all, a draw was probably a fair result.
