Gadeside Rangers produced their best performance of the season by a country mile as they swept aside old rivals Abbots Langley. Goals from Jay Evans, Adam Hills and a cracker from sub' Ivanz Mani set them on their way, but it was the manner of the performance which will have delighted new boss Hills.
Gadeside started confidently with Tom Mitchell bringing the best out of the Abbots keeper while at the other end Rob Metcalf produced the save of the season getting down low to keep out Lee Smith's close range header. Gadeside opened the scoring just before half time when Danny Everritt found Jay Evans who turned well before smashing an unstoppable drive into the top corner from the edge of the box.
The second began with disappointment for Gadeside as the visitors drew level. A left wing corner was only half cleared allowing an Abbots player to loop the ball over the despairing jump of Ian Freeman on the line and nestle in the top corner. For a short period, Abbots looked the better side but the introduction of Ivanz Mani proved fruitful for Gadeside.
It was his through ball to Adam Hills which helped Gadeside back in front. Hills cut inside of his marker before unleashing a ferocious drive in the far corner to regain the advantage. Abbots were reduced to 10 men when Smith elbowed Everritt off the ball and Gadeside made it count as Mani crashed home an awesome drive for all of 35 yards as Gadeside celebrated.
There was a hint of professionalism in the way Gadeside went about this victory which had boss Hills purring.
