Gadeside Rangers and North Bushey played out a rollercoaster ride of a game as both side exchanged the lead several times in an action packed game. Russ Popplewell continued his excellent start to the season when he opened the scoring midway through the first half with another cracking long range effort which swirved all of the place before crashing in off the underside of the bar.
However, Gadeside didn't have it all their own way as the hosts fought turned the game on its head with two quick goals just before half time. On both occassions, the defence were seen to be diving in allowing the skilful Cookie Latif to bag a brace. Both sides exchanged half chances after the break before Gadeside finally drew level with 12 minutes to go - what was to the be the signal for a crazy passage of play.
Good work by Daniel Brooks fed Ivanz Mani on the right hand side and his low cross was turned in at the near post by Adam Hills. Gadeside pushed forward in search of a winner and thought they had grabbed it with two minutes to play as Hills found the far corner with a 20 yard free kick.
But Gadeside pressed the self-destruct button. Popplewell attempted to shield the ball out for a goal kick but was tackled allowed Latif the easiest of chances and he made no mistake to level on 90 minutes. From the kick-off, Hills fired a powerful drive which had the Bushey keeper worried and he just tipped the ball over for a corner. From the resulting corner, Daniel Brooks crossed to where Hills' diving head cannoned back off the near post.
Gadeside will be frustrated at dropping points so early in the season and will have to learn to defend better if they are to have any hope of securing the title.
